ive always believed ppl blogged to express certain emotions.
and its always very misleading for it can sometimes
be an outburst during a bad mood or during PMS.
therefore it is highly unorthodox to only pick out
certain quotes which pertain to the topic of your choice.
it may be out of good intentions, but the method is highly questionable.
I prefer the POSITIVE approach, where only good things
are picked out to express GOOD intentions
for the negative approach usually backfires.
i feel that A5 is a class of ppl with distinct character qualities and values.
therefore it is highly applaudable that we've been giving in
and understanding each other all this while. i do not see it as
stepping on each others' tails for we've never done anything to
each other to purposely agitate or hurt.
it is usually accidental or slip-of-the-tongue.

Yes hello everyone this is my first time posting here. muahaha clap please. anyway. there are just a couple of stuff i wanna say la, so yeah.

firstly.. thanks to u all for cooperating today for the service learning discussion! thanks to u all, the class participation, we managed to get like new programmes and ideas... very very helpful. and thanks to prethika especially for very effective calming the very excited class down. haha. it was touching to see how some people really THOUGHT of the elderly.. as in... really go think about how would they feel/react if we did this or that etc.. yup. heartwarming yeses.

secondly.. sorry to u guys for today... i think i was abit harsh in my comments about the class' habit about talking in small groups while any administrator or i/cs needed to bring any point across... i know i haven been contributing much to the class in terms of spirit la.. but i really tot that that was something our class can improve upon to make A5 a more effective class.. =) yup. once again.. sorry about the harsh tone used today.

thirdly... i hope that everyone will have a meaningful time at Villa Francis Home of the Aged on wednesday! i most probably won be around for 2nd half.. which is the performance.. so so sorry.. =( but just so u know, i know that u guys sure can put up a great one... i would love to be there to watch and be part of it la.. but oh well... i cant due to circumstance. and $^(!#! i am missing the national day CIP too. argh.

Hey all =) Regina here, yea the treasurer... well i thought today was damn cool with everyone brainstorming together for or service learning and some pretty cool stuff was bought up haha +D thanks to Nicole and Yvonne for all ur help yea haha ...

kk im havin abit of problem collecting funds esp from the guys and i hope that u guys don mean it when u say that im using the funds for myself haha ... please i wouldnt do that, honest. wells jus to be sure that the class fund has absolute transparencyyyyyy... im gg to start putting the amount paid to reps here ya?

7 yellow cards, 1 red, a missed penalty, and 2 goals. is this the same ghanaian side that played against italy? czech republic look a shadow of the dynamic team that trumped usa 3-0 a week ago. they look lost on the field without jan koller, though talisman pavel nedved was doing all he could to raise the team's spirits. cech was outstanding, as usual. taken off guard at the 2nd minute, he managed to recover his composure and saved czech republic's butt countless times (the czechs had only 4 shots on target). without him, they would be trailing by 3 or 4 goals. kudos to the african side who managed to show us footie fans that this game is still full of surprises and to never wipe off any team no matter what their ranking or past results may be. at the end of the day, only one statistic matters, and that is the scoreline. sensational match. one of the best yet in the world cup so far.

italy vs usa in approximately 50 minutes.
do you think usa will take ghana as an example and make a comeback? or will the azzurri stay strong and united? with the group wide open after ghana's victory i can assure you both cannavaro and reyna will try to inspire their respective teams as much as they can. see you there. *

seems like it's gonna be an exciting day of football.

italy and usa started the match messily, conceding more free kicks than there are players. a yellow for francesco totti (sobs my fav..) and eddie pope, then salvation for the italians in the form of a goal by alberto gilardino. but calamity struck 5 minutes later. an own goal by cristian zaccardo and the italians are back to square one. in the next minute, daniele de rossi was sent off for elbowing mcbride just beneath the eye, causing blood to flow freely down his face. then, shock substitution: totti for 'the snarl' gattuso; marcello lippi seeming to favour gattuso's not so elegant but effective way of playing football. an effective substitution indeed, for not one minute after he came onto the field, he managed to find the back of the net, unfortunately the whistle had already gone off. just before half time, usa was delivered a huge blow; pablo mastroeni was sent off for a two footed tackle against andrea pirlo. and all this in just 47 minutes of play.

2nd half. 2 minutes into it and eddie pope got his 2nd yellow, resulting in the 3rd send off in this match. usa are now playing with 9 men. relatively calm play after the explosive first half. one more yellow for zambrotta at the 70th minute. wave after wave of italian attack was unable to break the resolute americans, who managed to hold to their gift of an own goal tightly, largely thanks to man of the match, keeper kasey keller. well, no disputes there.

if not for zaccardo's own goal, the americans would have to face another defeat. not one shot on goal by them, though they had 8 shots altogether, together with 24 fouls committed.
the italians, on the other hand had 3 shots on goal and 10 shots. 13 fouls, 11 offsides. seems like everytime toni or iaquinta ran at goal the flag will come up. well, like i said, no stats matter other than the all important scoreline, which ended 1-1. there you go.

kudos to landon donovan and kasey keller of usa. i must say that they did sterling work, donovan with his nimble feet outrunning the italian defense countless times and kasey keller stopping shots from a relentless italian attack spearheaded by del piero. the heros of the day seem to be the keepers for once. i would say that this is the best match of the world cup yet.

italy and usa both have to beat their opponents in the next match in order to move on to the round of 16, czech republic and ghana respectively. this is turning out to be a group full of surprises and unexpected results. till next time!

fought hard, and fought well.
but they were just unable to penetrate the stout Holland defense.

Goalscorers - Peter Crouch (83rd min)

First half was generally quite boring. T & T were defending for the most part, although John Terry did have to clear the ball off the line on one occasion.

Terrible misses by England generally, throughout the whole match. Frank Lampard was the main culprit most of the time. Peter Crouch had the perfect chance late in the first half, as Beckham found him unmarked in the penalty area just in front of goal. But his volley was horribly mistimed.

Second half started much the same way as the first half, nonsense passes here and there by England players, needlessly giving away free balls. Still, England were pressing, but T & T defending superbly against the rentless England assault.

Wayne Rooney and Aaron Lennon substitued for Michael Owen and Jamie Carragher in the 59th minute. England now playing 3 upfront with 3 at the back.

That double substitution injected some life into the English players, with Lennon making immediate impacts. Outrunning his marker, he made plenty of crosses into the box, but alas, too inaccurate to do any good.

Still, the English assault on goal continued, with a few scares. T & T strikers nearly broke free during counter attacks, but English defenders defended well.

It was not till the 83rd minute where Peter Crouch out jumped his marker to head in a David Beckham cross from the right. Beautiful cross, beautiful goal.

England were now pressing, and T & T being forced to attack more, instead of defending as they has done before the goal.

Then came Steven Gerrad's goal.
Absoultely beautiful one, an unstoppable left footer just outside the box, rocketing into the goal, leaving Hislop no chance at all. Reminds us of the FA cup final eh? Haha.

One final scare came at the 92nd minute, where Stern John flicked the ball into the England goal from a short corner, but was rightfully ruled offside.

Okay. I guess this sorta sums up the more interesting parts of the match. Gonna sleep now. Zzzzz. Haha.

relentless attack, inspired midield, impenetrable defense. plus a cute, young, sometimes eccentric but always reliable goalkeeper to boot. not to mention a totally unselfish veteran cum rightful captain who has hierro stamped in his providence of goals, raul.

it's no wonder why they won. and by the largest margin so far in the world cup.

spain was lucky. goals from a corner, a free kick and a penalty. the last goal brilliantly orchestrated by puyol and rammed into the net by torres.

ukraine coach oleg blokhin commented after the match, "Spain played a very complete game, they were solid and fully deserved to win."

hello!

australia beat japan 3-1, recording their first fifa world cup finals victory, after 84 minutes of being 1-0 down thanks to a nakamura goal. substitutes tim cahill and john aloisi made history when they managed to not only equalize, but win the match with a comfortable 2 goal cushion with the evertonian scoring 2 goals and aloisi adding the icing to the cake by scoring one more just before the final whistle was blown.

czech republic showed uncle sam whose boss with an emphatic 3-0 victory, first goal headed in by giant marksman jan koller who later went out with an unfortunate injury to his hamstring. this however did not deter the rest of his team mates who fought back fiercely, especially youngster tomas rosicky who rammed in 2 brilliant goals from outside the 18 yard box to seal their well-deserved victory.

italy ended day 5 with a 2-0 victory over ghana with goals from pirlo and iaquinta. despite the presence of michael essien, the world cup first timers were unable to hold back a strong azzurri attack led by captain fabio cannavaro, with the combined attacking strength of totti and up and coming serie a top scorer toni luca and had to succumb to a defeat right at the beginning of their world cup campaign.

top scorers are still klose, wanchope, iranian omar bravo, czech wonderboy rosicky and aussie tim cahill.

on a lighter note.

brazil and croatia, france and switzerland, south korea and togo. pretty straightforward if any of you are thinking of betting.

her average for the last game was 175! like freakishly good in contrast, i had 85 the last time haha.

Anyway i know it was rather heated when we were organizing the class Watch jean die thing but yeah BREATHE PEOPLE! ha it went well in the end i guess anyway it was impossible to squeeze that many people into the cinema so duh we had to split.

fun things to do in an examination. =D

1. Bring a pillow. Fall asleep (or pretend to) until the last 15 minutes. Wake up, say "oh geez, better get cracking" and do some gibberish work. Turn it in a few minutes early.
2. Get a copy of the exam, run out screaming "Andre, Andre, I've got the secret documents!!"
3. If it is a math/science exam, answer in essay form. If it is long answer/essay form, answer with numbers and symbols. Be creative. Use the integral symbol.
4. Make paper airplanes out of the exam. Aim them at the instructor's left nostril.
5. Talk the entire way through the exam. Read questions aloud, debate your answers with yourself out loud. If asked to stop, yell out, "I'm SOOO sure you can hear me thinking." Then start talking about what a jerk the instructor is.
6. Bring cheerleaders.
7. Walk in, get the exam, sit down. About five minutes into it, loudly say to the instructor, "I don't understand ANY of this. I've been to every lecture all semester long! What's the deal? And who the hell are you? Where's the regular guy?"
8. Bring a Game Boy (or Game Gear, etc...). Play with the volume at max level.
9. On the answer sheet (book, whatever) find a new, interesting way to refuse to answer every question. For example: I refuse to answer this question on the grounds that it conflicts with my religious beliefs. Be creative.
10. Bring pets.
11. Run into the exam room looking about frantically. Breathe a sigh of relief. Go to the instructor, say "They've found me, I have to leave the country" and run off.
12. Fifteen minutes into the exam, stand up, rip up all the papers into very small pieces, throw them into the air and yell out "Merry Christmas." If you're really daring, ask for another copy of the exam. Say you lost the first one. Repeat this process every fifteen minutes.
13. Do the exam with crayons, paint, or fluorescent markers.
14. Come into the exam wearing a pair of birkenstocks, and nothing else.
15. Come down with a BAD case of Tourette's Syndrome during the exam. Be as vulgar as possible.
16. Do the entire exam in another language. If you don't know one, make one up! For math/science exams, try using Roman numerals.
17. Bring things to throw at the instructor when s/he's not looking. Blame it on the person nearest to you.
18. As soon as the instructor hands you the exam, eat it.

21. Turn in the exam approximately 30 minutes into it. As you walk out, start commenting on how easy it was.
22. Do the entire exam as if it was multiple choice and true/false. If it is a multiple choice exam, spell out interesting things (DCCAB, BABE, etc..).
23. Bring a black marker. Return the exam with all questions and answers completely blacked out.
24. Get the exam. Twenty minutes into it, throw your papers down violently, scream out "Screw this!" and walk out triumphantly.
25. Arrange a protest before the exam starts (i.e. Threaten the instructor that whether or not everyone's done, they are all leaving after one hour to go drink).
